The Malta Weightlifting Association has organized its annual event    /   2016-01-25
The Malta Weightlifting Association has organized its annual Ground to Overhead Event in aid of the Community Chest Fund, a charitable institution under the patronage of the President of Malta. Unlike the official weightlifting competition, this event included 3 exercises: Ground to overhead for reps in 3 minutes, Ground to overhead until 1 rep max and Deadlift. As a result, this competition was a huge success as it drew the interest of many athletes from various disciplines including: Olympic Weightlifting, Powerlifting, CrossFit and Body Building.

Estonian Mart Seim wins Best Male Athlete of the Year Title    /   2016-01-14
Just one Month after winning the bronze medal in World Weightlifting Championship super heavyweight category, Mart Seim added another accolade to his name. He won the award for the 2015 „Best male Athlete“ in Estonia
The 25-year-old weightlifting champion also won the „Best sports moment of the Year“ award with his last Clean and Jerk attempt in Houston.  „Best sports moment of the Year“ is special Estonian Public Broadcasting award wich is won by public voting amongst estonian people.
Mart Seim father and Coach Alar Seim was also honored with the award „Best Coach of the year“.

Reykjavik International Games will take place in Reykjavik 30th of January 2016    /   2015-12-02
The 2016 RIG Olympic weightlifting competition will take place in Laugardalsholl Sports Hall on January 30th from 10:00-13:00.
The competition will be broadcast in the national TV (RUV) the 30th of January between 15:30-17:00.
The meet is invitation only, 10 men and 10 females will participate. Eight best Icelandic lifters of the year 2015 (Sinclair) will be invited to compete against international competitors. Already confirmed are Colin Burns (USA,-94kg), Sami Raapanna (Finland, -85kg), Cortney Batchelor (USA, -58kg) and Anni Vuohijoki (Finland, -69kg).
